How do I Review Assessment Submissions?

Learn how to review and evaluate learner responses and track completion.

Overview

This guide covers how reviewers (typically content creators or admins) can view, assess, and provide feedback on Assessment submissions.

Access Submissions

To view learner submissions:

  • Navigate to the assessment and click View Submissions which will display below the content description.

  • You’ll be taken to a list view showing all submissions separated into lists:

    • Pending submissions
    • Reviewed submissions

Review a Submission

Clicking REVIEW on a Pending submission will take you to the Submission page. Inside a submission, you’ll see:

  • Submission tab: Displays the learner’s text and/or files.

  • Feedback tab (after review): Displays your comments.

You can:

  • Pass a submission (optional feedback)

  • Fail a submission (100-character minimum feedback required)

Any uploaded files are shown in a table:

  • Name, Type, Size

  • Click the file name to download it

To see a previously reviewed submission, hovering over a row in the Reviewed list will show a right arrow icon – click to open the Submission page. Again, you’ll see:

  • Submission tab: Displays the learner’s text and/or files. Clicking the file name will allow you to download the file.

  • Feedback tab: Displays your comments.

There are no options to Pass or Fail submissions that have been reviewed (unless they have been resubmitted).

Completion & Notifications

Once a submission is approved the activity is marked Complete for the learner.

Notifications:

  • Reviewers receive a notification in-app (but not by email) when a new submission is made.

  • These will also be included in the weekly digest email for the reviewer.

  • Learners will receive both an email and in-app notification when their submission has been reviewed

Getting the most out of Reviewing

  • Use clear, actionable feedback to guide learners.

  • Monitor the weekly email digest for any missed submissions.

  • If using Assessments at scale, consider aligning your review team and process ahead of time.
